New England Match Best Victory Run Since Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five TDs this season
New England tied their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two victories and eight defeats
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' initial series
But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third period to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the triumph
