The DCU Series Second Season Finale to Resolve Significant Fan Complaint, James Gunn Confirms
While audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been mostly favorable, with fans and critics praising the performances and plot—even if the major revelation in episode 7 wasn't exactly a shock—one critique has only grown stronger throughout the season: dwindling episode runtimes.
In recent weeks, viewers have voiced frustration over the noticeably shorter episode lengths in season 2, and it's true, the episodes have been progressively briefer. Episode 7, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” lasted only 28 minutes (not counting the recap, title sequence, and closing credits), making it the shortest episode so far.
You'll be happy to learn the upcoming finale is nearly an hour in length.
Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss Gunn posted on Threads, responding to a disappointed fan.
Although this is encouraging, it's unknown what portion of the runtime will be brand-new content, uncluttered by opening and ending sequences, or summaries of past episodes. That said, even if the finale includes all the previously mentioned non-essential content, that would still allow for roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a big upgrade after episode 7.
Gunn previously hinted that the finale would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint regarding the future the greater DCU as a whole will be moving and serve as a prequel of sorts for the upcoming Man of Tomorrow film. Given the brief appearance of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, many are anticipating a exciting guest appearance to cap off the show.
The show's season conclusion, episode 8, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if viewer theories are confirmed.
